Angelina (Angel)

Angel was a 7 or 8 month old puppy when she came to live with us. She had lived with a family across the street from us. The family sold their home and was moving to an apartment. One of their children told me they couldn’t take their dog because the apartment didn’t allow pets.

I visited the family after hearing that news to see what their plan was for the dog. I was told they didn’t know what they were going to do with her and would probably just leave her. I asked them to please not just go off and leave her and if they couldn’t find a home for her before they were all moved to bring her to me. They told me to go ahead and take her because they knew no one who would take her. So that is how sweet Angel came to live with us.

Angel is a mix of a little of this and little of that…we just don’t know what. We do know she is mixed with a whole lot of sweet and a little bit of ornery. She was our only dog for about a year and she was pretty spoiled.

She loves to lay down, roll over and get her tummy rubbed. I think she would lay on her back until she just HAD to get up as long as I kept rubbing her tummy. She is a good dog but very protective of her food and has to be fed away from our other dog. He too is protective of his food because he went without for several days…I will tell about him on his page.

Angel is friendly and never meets a stranger. She will let anyone pet her and play with her. Her favorite thing to play with is a rubber tire toy that came with a rope attached. She has two of them. The first thing she does when she gets one of them is chew off the rope. She does not like the rope on the wheel. She will bring the wheel to anyone that will throw it for her to go fetch. Every time one of us goes outside she runs, gets her wheel, comes to the gate and stands with it in her mouth waiting to have it tossed. She does the same thing when we come home after going some place. Her next favorite game is chasing squirrels and birds.

Angel fits right in with our family and we love her. It is like she has always been with us.

  1. What a heartwarming story! I can’t believe that family was just going to leave her, that’s so heartless! How wonderful of you to save this dog, and she’s obviously repaying your kindness with lots and lots of joy! :)
