Chancy

This is how I looked 2 months after coming to live with Mumsy. Mumsy did not take pictures of me when I was sick . I looked so bad she cried and was sad when she saw me. She did not want pictures of me looking so sick. In the picture above you can see some of the areas on my face and ears where I had mange and the hair had not grown back.

I was living across the road from Mumsy. A teenage boy had brought me home with him when I was just 6 weeks old. He did not take good care of me. He went to jail for drugs and other charges. The boy’s mom did not want me and she did not take care of me either. Mumsy’s daughter saw me and asked if she could bring me to Mumsy. The lady told her that Mumsy could have me.

When I got to Mumsy’s home I had a collar embedded deep into my neck. Mumsy was able to remove the collar but I had to have surgery to repair the deep cut into my throat. My throat was open almost from one of my ears to the other. I was starving because the collar was so tight I could not swallow. I had 2 different kinds of mange, staph infection, lots of worms and was covered from head to feet with fleas and ticks. I had to be kept in isolation for 2 months. Mumsy gave me medication twice daily and medicated baths as needed until I was all well. She also would come into my room and play with me several times a day. She taught me to play fetch and I loved bringing my ball to her.

I was very near death and I am so happy to be with Mumsy and Popsy now. They love me so much and I love them better than anything. I have Mumsy wrapped around my paw. :) She named me Chancy because I lived and got a second chance for life.

  1. Gosh you were even worse than I was when I found my people. I just had a bad ear, some mangy fur, and pink fur around my throat from fights. Glad you have found a loving home.

Pippa – off to read your blog now I have read about you :)
